Kearney has his day
DETROIT - Brandan Kearney was the first player in Michigan State's prized 2011 basketball recruiting class to commit to Tom Izzo. Twelve months later, the 6-foot-6, 182-pound wing made it official by signing a binding National Letter of Intent during a signing day press conference at Detroit Southeastern High School on Tuesday.
Kearney was joined by teammate Percy Gibson who signed with Atlantic-10 powerhouse Dayton where he will play for former Michigan State assistant coach Brian Gregory, who also signed Lansing Eastern star LaDontae Henton in his 2011 class.
"I have been waiting for this day for a long time," said Kearney. "For it to finally be here is very exciting. It is like my day. What I have been working for is here, it shows all of the hard work that I have put in."
