Dodson on Bucks' radar
At 6-foot-6, 315-pounds, Kyle Dodson certainly sticks out on a football field, but it isn't just his size that has attracted attention from college scouts across the country. The two-year starter at Cleveland Heights High School in Northeast Ohio has plenty of skill to go along with his big frame.
That's why he already holds a verbal scholarship offer from Michigan State and has attracted attention from college coaches across the country.
"Auburn, Oregon, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Michigan State, NC State and Boston College have interest," Dodson said. "All for left tackle."
Dodson already has visited Pittsburgh and Michigan State and he was in Columbus for Ohio State's big win over rival Michigan.
"It was nice, a great experience," he said. "The coaches said to keep working hard and keep in contact."
Staying in touch with the Buckeyes is something Dodson plans to do.
He said he plans to contact assistant coach Taver Johnson on a weekly basis and he hopes to return to Columbus for the Buckeyes' upcoming junior day.
Dodson's junior season at Cleveland Heights didn't turn out like he hoped it would, as the Tigers finished 4-6, but he felt he played as well as he expected.
"I didn't get my head down because I can't run or throw the ball, unless I'm like that guard from New England," he joked.
With the season out of the way, Dodson plans to work hard to prepare for 2011. He'll also keep an eye on many of the schools showing interest.
He said he has a few schools he considers early favorites, but he's open to all.
"Michigan State, because I've been there and they offered me and I like Wisconsin, Ohio State, Auburn, NC State, Boston College, Oregon, and I'm pretty much open to all of the DI's," he said. "But, Michigan State offered me, so they're my leader in my mind."
