Bucks still in it with Treadwell?

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - One of the most high profile prospects at Sunday's Illinois Nike Camp was Crete (Ill.) Monee four-star wide receiver Laquon Treadwell. The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder had an impressive day at the event, making several acrobatic catches and showing off his smooth route-running ability. Treadwell's performance was good enough to earn MVP honors at the wide receiver position.
"I think I did well," explained Treadwell. "I just competed on every play so I think that separated myself from a lot of the other guys."
In addition to the positional MVP award, Treadwell also earned invites to both The Opening and Gridiron Kings, two prestigious invite only camps.
"It's a great experience, I had a teammate that went (to The Opening) last year," he explained. "It will just be a great experience to get up there and compete with some of the best players in the country."
Despite having offers from all over the nation, Treadwell refuses to sit on those offers and his lofty ranking by the Rivals.com national analysts.
"You can never get enough work," he said. "It's just good to come out here and compete against better competition, that's what it's all about."
Treadwell also took advantage of his time in Champaign by visiting Illinois on Saturday and the athletic pass-catcher had good things to say about his visit.
"It was great," he said. "I really had a nice time with coach (Billy) Gonzales. It's just great to see all of the great receivers that he's coached and the guys that he's sent to the next level. He's coached at the top level so I think he's a great coach."
While the major in-state program made a move for Treadwell over the weekend, things have been relatively quiet on the Treadwell front when it comes to Ohio State. The four-star receiver says the Buckeyes are still in the picture.
"Ohio State is still in the mix with all of the great coaches they have there with coach (Urban) Meyer and all of those guys," Treadwell said.
Several Ohio State commits have been in Treadwell's ear recently and a summer visit appears likely at this point.
"I've been talking to a lot of their recruits," he said. "I was talking to Ezekiel (Elliott) and Jayme (Thompson) and Cameron (Burrows) so I plan on visiting over the summer."
In addition to Ohio State, Treadwell is hoping to make it out to a few other programs during the summer months.
"We get a two week break in June and early July and I'm thinking about taking a visit to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State as well as Michigan State," he said.
While Treadwell doesn't have a list of finalists at this point, he did list a group of schools that have caught his attention by the effort they have put in on the recruiting trail.
"Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Michigan State, Michigan, USC, Illinois, Ohio State, Notre Dame, those are the schools that are recruiting me the hardest," he said.
