Hidden candidate could be entering mix

Throughout the University of Miami's 12-day ongoing search for a head coach, many have questioned the presence of consultant Chuck Neinas, a longtime college sports power player who has made a new career out of helping Universities land top coaches.

Neinas' job has been to present candidates for Athletic Director Paul Dee and the Miami search committee to consider. The only coach whose candidacy has become public has been Texas Tech coach Mike Leach.

But sources are now telling CaneSport.com that Arizona coach Mike Stoops, brother of Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops and a West Coast version of Greg Schiano, could be entering the mix to replace Larry Coker.

The known short list is presently made up of Leach and Miami defensive coordinator Randy Shannon, whom Neinas is believed to also support.
