BadgerBlitz.com staff writer Jon McNamara recently caught up with UW redshirt freshman Brett Valentyn after a Badgers basketball practice. Here is the discussion McNamara had with Valentyn about his transition to playing college hoops and what his future might hold.

Major is undecided

This time last year, you were playing high school basketball, now you are on the No. 2 team in the country, how does that feel?

This has been crazy. I remember going to games at the Field House and watching the Badgers play with my dad. Watching guys like Michael Finley and Rashard Griffith and now I'm on the team, its something I never thought would happen, but now it is kind of like a dream come true.

How did the opportunity arise for you to join the Badgers?

I was looking at a lot of WIAC schools like UW-Whitewater and UW-La Crosse, but towards the end, Wisconsin asked if I was interested in join the team as a walk-on and that was just something I couldn't pass on at the time.
