Quarterbacks look ahead to fall
Now that the Panthers have concluded spring practices, and the spring game, the long wait begins for those players, coaches and Pitt fans. It's the long wait to the official start of football season.
For players, it's a long summer of conditioning to put yourself in the best physical condition to not only make it through two-a-days, but to put yourself in a better position on the depth chart. For the fans, it's a long four months of sifting through preseason predictions waiting until that first day of fall camp. After another three weeks of waiting, the Panthers go through preseason practices all the way up to the first game on September 1.
With all this waiting, perhaps no group is more eager to get to August than Pitt's quarterbacks. There is also no group that will be under the microscope over those three weeks of preseason practice than Pitt's quarterbacks.
Following the conclusion of spring drills, head coach Dave Wannstedt felt the quarterbacks didn't persuade him one way or the other at this time, and it looks to be a full battle for the starting position heading into the fall.
