Houston Strake Jesuit junior guard/forward Joey Brooks received his first official scholarship offer from New Mexico Monday. It came the day after he returned from the Albuquerque campus.

Brooks was in Albuquerque for new New Mexico head coach Steve Alford's Elite camp, and his play was impressive enough to get an immediate offer.

The 6-foot-5, 180-pound Brooks has a scholarship offer from New Mexico and is gaining heavy interest from Texas A&M, Arizona State, Georgetown, Wake Forest, Stanford, USC, Kansas and Vanderbilt.
