Onwukaife visits A&M, has others planned
Despite the early start time and the fact that he had a tiring game of his own on Friday, Cedar Park junior defensive end Holmes Onwukaife made the drive to College Station on Saturday morning to watch Texas A&M take on Texas Tech.
It was the first time that the 6-foot-2, 215-pound defender has been to Aggieland and he says came away with a very favorable first impression. He arrived in town early and his day started off when he made the rounds in the Bright Athletic Complex.
"We got there about an hour before the game," said Onwukaife. "We just ate breakfast with them, filled out a questionnaire, met some of the players and talked with the coaches. One of the coaches came up to me and commented that he had seen my highlight video the night before, so I guess they were expecting me. We got a really warm reception.
"I met No. 54, Leroy Chevalier. He's a big old dude. I was eating and he just came up and put his hand on my shoulder and I turned around and he was like, 'How you doing, man?' I went to shake his hand and he had massive hands. He was a really nice guy and he talked about what he liked about A&M."
