Huskies land verbal from ATH
It was a big weekend for UConn football as the Huskies rolled out the red carpet for some of the top remaining prospects on their recruiting board.
Martin Hyppolite announced yesterday that he would be attending UConn, and now another prospect has added his name to the Huskies' commitment list.
"I committed to UConn," said Nick Williams, an athlete out of Princeton (N.J.) Hun School. "I did that this morning when I talked to the coach. He was pretty excited to hear it."
Williams held offers from Army and Towson and had been pursued by plenty of other schools in recent months. Why did he decide UConn was the place for him?
"Just the opportunity to play in the Big East," he explained. "That was basically the major selling point for me. The facilities are nice and the campus is nice. It's a good opportunity to get away from home and be in Connecticut."
Williams said his decision came down to UConn and Pennsylvania, and he had been thinking about taking trips to Louisville, New Hampshire and William & Mary.
"I'm solid," he confirmed. "I'm not gonna go anywhere. I called up all the other coaches from all the schools I've talked to and told them about my decision."
Williams said UConn plans on using him as a return man early in his college career. They have not decided which skill position he will line up at yet.
