Signee Profile: RB late addition for AU
Tampa (Fla.) Chamberlain
5-foot-10, 215 pounds
Aycock planned to sign with Georgia Tech, but an official visit to Auburn the last weekend before Signing Day changed that. Aycock said he would've picked the Tigers over the Jackets regardless, but he was never given that opportunity. Because he visited Auburn, Georgia Tech pulled his offer. Aycock talks about his commitment to Georgia Tech, his feelings towards the Yellow Jackets' recruiting policies, what made him want to visit Auburn and ultimately sign with the Tigers and much more in the fourth of our profile stories of the 2009 signees.
On his workout regime: "I'm in the weight room all the time, doing all the lifting. I'm also running, trying to get faster. Auburn sent two workouts, one for the spring and one for the summer. I've been following that."
You say you're 215 pounds now, how much do you want to weigh when you report to Auburn? "I think I'm good where I am now. I know when I get there, there's going to be mandatory weight lifting and if I need to gain any weight, I can do it then."
When do you plan to move to Auburn? "As soon as graduation is over with. My graduation is over with June 2. I'm going to try and get to Auburn as soon as possible after that. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm excited."
You were a late target by Auburn, not hearing from the Tigers until the new coaching staff was hired. Talk about how your recruitment with Auburn began. "Coach (Curtis) Luper, when he got to Auburn, had heard about me and that I was still undecided. We talked and I told him that I had verbally committed to Georgia Tech and was leaning towards them. Coach Luper said he just wanted me to come up for a visit and I told him I would. I remember when I first got on the phone with him. He told me that sometimes the schools that recruit you the longest aren't necessarily the right ones. He told me that the right one could be the one that I found right before Signing Day. He was right."
