Way back when, Sheldon Richardson committed to Missouri as a top-five high school player in the country. Nearly two years later, he is one of the most highly-sought after juco prospects in the land. Richardson renewed his acquaintances in Columbia on a weekend official visit.
"Everything was great. I couldn't have asked for anything else," Richardson said. "They beat OU and that was my icing on the cake. I was just hoping to see a good football game."
After the 36-27 upset of the top-ranked team in the country, Richardson joined a sea of Tiger fans on the field.
"Of course," he said. "I think I was the first one on there."
Richardson got in town on Friday night and was the only recruit on campus then. On Saturday, a host of other visitors joined him. Richardson made a day of it on Saturday, hitting College Game Day on the Francis Quadrangle first thing in the morning.
"It was crazy, my first time at Game Day," Richardson said. "They set a record with like 18 thousand people. We're always trying to set a record for something."
Richardson is currently out with a wrist injury. He said he hopes to have a chance at a medical redshirt for the season, but isn't sure if he will receive one yet. He is on track to finish up in December and enroll at Missouri.
"I'm still a strong commit," he said. "I'm sure after beating Oklahoma I don't want to go anywhere else. Why would I? They've shown they can beat the best of the best. That's the same team I committed to."
Richardson did say he could take official visits to USC, Cal and Miami, but that there is "no doubt" he will sign with Missouri again at semester's end.
