With the 2003 recruiting season wrapped up its easy to see all ready where the Devils fell a little short this season. Wide receiver is an area of concern for the Devils and with their inroads into the Long Beach Cal-Poly program the Devils may have a shot at one of the best talents on the west coast next year.

Derrick Jones a 6-foot 180-pound wide receiver from Long Beach Cal-Poly had a superb season for the Jackrabbits. Jones posesses outstanding athletic ability with a 4.49, 40-yard dash time and great hands. Jones tallied 75 receptions for over 1,100 yards and 16 touchdowns as a junior.

Jones is a two year starter and as a sophomore had 55 catches for 880 yards. He also plays soccer basketball and will for the first time this year run track. " I want to go to a school where I get a chance at playing time and where ever I feel that I would fit into their style." stated Jones.

Jones has received letters from all over the country and hasn't quite settled into a top five favorite but likes many of the Pac-10 schools. He attended the USC camp last summer and has yet to decide where he will camp this year. ASU will no doubt be after this stud prospect for the 2004 season.
