2012 LB racking up offers

While some of the top prospects in the state for the Class of 2011 are still emerging, one of state's top 2012 prospects has already seen his recruitment exploding, landing double-digit offers before the end of his sophomore year. Oxford linebacker Kwon Alexander blew away scouts and college recruiters with his sophomore season that included 133 total tackles including 44 tackles for loss and 8 sacks and now he's hearing from schools from across the country.

"In the last couple of weeks I've gotten offers from Arkansas, Illinois and Texas Tech so they are still coming," Alexander said.

While the 6-foot-2, 207-pound Alexander hasn't had much of a chance to see most of the schools that have offered him, the two in-state schools have both made strong early impressions on the future star.

"I have liked what I have seen from Alabama and Auburn. I went to Junior Day and another unofficial visit at Alabama and I've also been on an unofficial visit to Auburn."

"I got to meet with Coach Saban when I went to Alabama two weeks ago and he was really enthusiastic about wanting me to play there. He said they really like me a lot and they feel like I'd be able to help them immediately if I came there. He really thinks as an outside linebacker that I'd be a perfect fit for what they do on defense."

"Auburn is cool, it's a different feel. I really like the atmosphere there. It's a real comfortable place to be. I grew up Alabama fan but there's a lot I like about Auburn as well."

Alexander said every aspect of a school is important to him, from academics to the weight room, but two factors stand out when it comes to making a college decision.

"For me, the top priorities are playing somewhere that I can win a championship and that will help me get to the NFL. I'm looking at everything as a whole but those are the top factors I am looking at."

While plenty of schools are encouraging Alexander to make an early commitment, the young defender said he plans to take his time to learn as much as possible before making any kind of decision.

"Next week I'm going to Florida and after that I'm not really sure how my spring is going to play out. I really didn't expect things to happen this soon for me so I am still sort of taking my time and taking it all in. I have plenty of time to check everything out before I make a decision so there's no pressure."
