QB Cochran back from UConn

Monroe (Conn.) Masuk quarterback Casey Cochran made the short trip to UConn on Saturday to check out the Huskies' practice and he spoke about that experience on Sunday afternoon.

While the eyes of the nation were on UConn's basketball program playing in the Final Four, Cochran was taking a hard look at the UConn football program under new head coach Paul Pasqualoni.

"It was very good," Cochran said of UConn. "It was great getting to see the new offense and how coach Pasqualoni ran practice."

Though Cochran had visited UConn before he had never watched the previous coach, Randy Edsall, during a practice.

"I couldn't really compare it because I wasn't there," he said. "I just know coach Pasqualoni was very intense. It was very high tempo."

This coming Saturday, Cochran will be at Boston College. Later in April the 6-foot-1, 207-pound quarterback will be at Virginia.

The trip to BC will be important because the Eagles have offered. In fact, to date they are the only school that has offered. Recruiting coordinator Mike Siravo has made Cochran a high priority.

"He sends me letters at least three times a week," Cochran said.

Cochran is scheduled to graduate in January so he's hoping to make a decision before his senior season starts. He doesn't have a timetable and wants to see what offers are going to come in. Over the summer he plans on camping at UConn and Rutgers. He may camp at other schools but hasn't made plans yet.
