Davis twins close to Spartan offers?

Two of the most talented players in the state of Ohio for the class of.2012 just so happen to be twin brothers, Demetrious and Chris Davis of Austintown Fitch High School. Find out more.

Both Demetrious and Chris have an impressive list of scholarships that includes schools such as West Virginia, Iowa, Oregon State, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and UCLA. In all the brothers have close to 20 scholarship offers each.

This fall one of the most exciting teams to watch in the nation will be Austintown Fitch High School. 5-foot-10, 183-pound Demetrious Davis is a dynamic quarterback that accounted for over 2000-yards passing and running. His brother Chris, who is listed at 5-foot-9, 185-pounds is a do it all type of athlete who can run, catch and cover as well as anyone. Just for good measure, Fitch High School also has running back William Mahone to pound the ball as well.

The father of the twins, Chris Sr., actually attended and played football at Michigan State in the early 1990's, and has a lot of positive feelings about the school and the current direction of football program. This past weekend the Davis twins were invited to Columbus to check out Ohio State's spring game. We asked Chris Sr. how that visit went.

"It went really well," he said. "The Ohio State coaches said they will be at the high school in the next 2 weeks and it is possible they could offer at that time."

Michigan State has not offered the twins as of yet, but they are showing plenty of.interest. Like.most.teams, the Spartans see Demetrious as a dangerous wide receiver and Chris as a lockdown cover cornerback. We asked Chris Sr. about the Spartans.

"Coach Narduzzi has been in touch," Davis Sr. said. "He is supposed to stop by the school. We are planning on going up for the spring game next weekend. We have speed training in the morning. I hope that Michigan State offers them, the coaches say they really like the boys."

As has been mentioned previously, Demetrious and Chris.are very tight with William Mahone. The three of them have talked about going to the same school if.they find the right fit. If the Spartans offer the twins they would likely be one of the top.choices if this talented trio wants to take their talents to the next level together.

SpartanMag.com will continue to keep in touch with the Davis family. It is very possible they will revive a scholarship offer this spring or summer at camp. If that happens you can be sure that Coach Narduzzi works hard to get them in Green and White.

SpartanMag.com's Take:

It is not often that package deals occur, but with brothers it is often a different case. Both Demetrious and Chris have stated they intend to play in college together, and they have the scholarship offers to do so. This is not a situation where one brother is viewed as the better prospect. Both brothers bring plenty of ability to the table.

William Mahone is the wildcard here. Michigan State has offered Mahone and likes him as a big physical feature running back.. Ohio State has already taken commitments from two other running backs so they are likely out of the "running" there, unless they tell Mahone he can have a shot at running back with the intent of moving him to linebacker.

If somehow the trio do end up in East Lansing you can be sure that Austintown Fitch High school will have a huge following of new fans this fall as they make a drive toward the state championship
