Alabama LB has Oregon in top group
The 2012 linebacker class is quite possibly the most talent rich class in recent memory. With national prospects like Nick Dawson, Vince Biegel and Timothy Cole in the mix, 2012 is sure to be a stellar year for linebackers. One prospect is starting to separate himself from the pack however.
Kwon Alexander, a 6-foot-2 and 212-pounder from Oxford, AL has amassed 37 offers so far including offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Ohio St., Oklahoma and Oregon to name a few. He is regarded by most as one the top prospects in the state and possibly in the country. Duck Sports Authority recently caught up with Alexander to talk about his recruitment and about the Ducks chances.
"It's going good and I'm basically hearing from everybody right now," Alexander said. "Everybody's calling me and sending me mail right now so it's going well."
Alexander recently took the top honor for his position at the UGA Nike camp. A group that was loaded with talent. His natural football skills have propelled him to an elite prospect despite his somewhat smaller build for a linebacker. But Alexander knows where he needs to improve and is focused on making it happen this year.
"I need to work on getting bigger and getting better feet," explained Alexander.
But his size won't deter him from his goals and with over 30 offers it is obvious that coaches around the nation believe that he will be a special player.
Of those offers Alexander says a few teams are standing out in their pursuit of his services. Alabama, Auburn, Oregon and more recently LSU have been coming after him pretty hard. He talked to DSA about what he likes about each one of those schools.
LSU- "I really don't know a lot about LSU. I'm supposed to be going up there May 28th. When I go up there I'm going to check it out and see what I like about it.
