Hawkeyes in good shape

It was a big recruiting weekend for the Iowa football program and one of the prospects they have been evaluating got some great news on his official visit.

Tevaun Smith, a 6-foot-2, 186-pound wide receiver from Kent School (Conn.) picked up an offer from the Hawkeyes this weekend.

"I found out from Coach Ferentz and the whole coaching staff really," Smith recalled.

"I thought it was a great school. The city itself was nice and the campus was really nice. Just knowing the facilities are going to be bigger and better in the next year or two makes it even better."

Smith had already visited UConn and Temple. While he said he has no favorites it sounds as though the Hawkeyes are in good shape.

"The main difference is with the coaching staff," he said. "Temple has been through a few coaches. UConn has had two coaches recently, but Coach Ferentz has been at Iowa for years now and he's not going to be leaving until 2020."

What are his plans from here?

"I don't know if it's finalized but I'm supposed to be going to Miami (Fla.)," he said. "They've evaluated my film and they're trying to talk to my coaching staff. They've spoken to my coach and they said they'd like to have me on a visit. Once I get back to school I'll find out whether I'm going.

"If I'm not going that will make my decision even easier and I might be able to commit in the next week or two."
