Recruiting War Room

The offensive line is one of Georgia's biggest need in the 2012 class, and the Bulldogs got off to a hot start with commitments from John Theus, Chester Brown, and Greg Pyke before the start of the season.

Since Pyke's commitment in August, however, things have gone cold for UGA's recruitment of offensive linemen, but all of that could be close to changing.

Cedar Grove offensive tackle Brandon Greene surprised everyone this weekend by taking an official visit to Georgia for the Football Gala. Greene committed to Alabama early in the process because they offered him first and showed him plenty of attention before Georgia was able to offer.

He has told many that he is solid to Alabama, but UGASports has learned from indviduals close to Greene and those who spent time with him on his official visit to UGA this weekend, he could be having a change of heart.

While he remains committed to the Crimson Tide, those close to Greene believe Georgia is even or possibly ahead of Alabama at the moment, and the fact that the Crimson Tide are looking for a new offensive coordinator due to the Greg McElwain's departure to take the Colorado State head coaching job can only help UGA's cause.

Beard has one in mind

Coffeyville Community College (Kan.) offensive lineman Mark Beard has burst on to the Georgia radar recently with a surprise offer and official visit. Beard is currently on campus at UGA, and UGASports was told Tuesday that Beard believes that he has made up his mind.

While Alabama native is considering three SEC schools - Mississippi State, Arkansas, and Georgia - it's believed that Beard is very likely to pick UGA on Thursday when he makes his announcement.

Things could change between now and then as he discusses things with his family, but, for now, Beard appears to be leaning heavily toward the red and black.
