Morris meets with Tide's new OC

Alec Morris visited Tuscaloosa three separate times during the fall. At this point, he knows everything he needs to know about the University of Alabama.

However, his official visit over the weekend gave his parents a chance to see more about the university, and more importantly, it gave Morris a chance to meet the Crimson Tide's new offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier.

"I had pretty much seen everything going into this," Morris said. "A lot of this was for my mom, who hadn't necessarily been through all the academic stuff. It was a great visit. I had a great time. I got to know Coach Nussmeier well, and all in all, it was just a really good trip.

"Today, we talked about some football stuff. We watched a little of my game film and what not. We just got to know each other and got a feel for one another's personality. We're just starting that relationship."

Morris committed to Alabama back in August when Jim McElwain was still the Tide's offensive coordinator. Even with Nussmeier, the former Washington offensive coordinator, taking over that position, Morris was reassured the offense will not change much going forward.

"It's a lot of the same stuff, very similar to how Alabama played this year," Morris said. "(Nussmeier) said, of course, there's going to be tweaks here and there, but a lot of similar things. He thinks, as well as the coaching staff, that I'll fit in well there, so that's good to hear."

In addition to talking extensively with the new offensive coordinator, Morris went over to Nick Saban's house Sunday morning for breakfast where he talked with the UA head coach and also spent time with the rest of the coaching staff.

He was joined by Rivals250 defensive lineman Korren Kirven and fellow Tide commitments Casey Gladney and Brandon Greene, who were all on their official visits.

"We hung out at his house, a beautiful home," Morris said. "I had a great breakfast. We took the four-wheelers down to the lake. I shot some hoops with the other guys there and a lot of the coaches. It was just a good time."

The Texas native attended the national championship celebration on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium where he got a first-hand look at the Alabama fan base and the BCS trophy.

"That was cool," Morris said. "Having people show up to that kind of thing is a big reason why I'm excited to be a part of this. It just set in a little bit that great things happen at this program, and you're going to have a shot to do something special."

Nussmeier gave Morris a few tips to take home with him and said the two would talk more after signing day about what specifically he needs to work on before enrolling at Alabama this summer.

"He said that after we get done with signing day and we can have a little bit more contact in regards to the system and workout programs, that's when we're going to focus on that. I'm just going to work through mechanics, under-center stuff and just trying to be proficient at that."

Morris plans to graduate from Allen High School in May and enroll at UA shortly after that.
