Warford wants to hear from Frogs

San Antonio James Madison all-purpose back and safety Marquis Warford has heard from a number of TCU rivals past (Boise State, Houston and Rice) and present (Baylor, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech), but not much from the Horned Frogs.

He said he'd like to see that change.

"I have a lot of interest in TCU, I just haven't heard much from them."

Warford said he heard from the Frogs once, a couple of weeks ago, and would like to make it to a practice before the end of the spring.

Listed as an all-purpose back, he has played a little bit of everywhere for James Madison. Whether he lines up at running back, slot receiver, kick returner or in the secondary, all Warford wants is a chance to touch the football.

"If I get the ball, then I'm definitely going to make something happen," he said.

The 5-foot-8, 165 pound Warford said he thinks versatility is one of his strengths. Although he will project best as a running back in college, he wouldn't mind getting a chance to play safety, especially in TCU's 4-2-5.

Warford said he has tried to convince his coach, Jim Streety, to make the switch to the 4-2-5 at the high school level to no avail. The appeal to him is the safety's ability to play closer to the line scrimmage and make more tackles.

Rice is the only offer that has come in so far, but Warford said he is not in hurry to make a decision.

He rushed for 2,162 yards on 280 carries with 22 TDs and also accumulated 548 receiving yards (18.3 YPC) and four TDs as a junior last season.
