3-Star OL excited about upcoming visit to Army

For offensive line prospectPatrick Joseph, he is currently holding four offers from the four A's .... Army, Arizona, Arizona State and Air Force.

GoBlackKnights.com had an opportunity to catch up with the 3-star prospect out of Hamilton High School out of Chandler (Ariz.) to discuss his overall recruiting, where it appears Joseph has narrowed down to three finalist in Arizona, Army, and Arizona State.

Although as it stand now, Joseph said the local schools may have a slight advantage based solely on proximity. "I do like the local schools a little bit more because they are closer to my family and friends," says Joseph, who is anticipating how his visit East to West Point will measure up.

"That's pretty much what they have going for them, but Army is a great school and it's a career if you do chose to go there."

There is little question of Joseph's enthusiasm surrounding his upcoming unofficial visit to Army the weekend of June 12the & 13th. "I will be there on campus and I'm absolutely excited," he adds.

"I actually spoke to Coach Guayder (Andy) today," said Joseph when speaking with GoBlackKnights.com Sunday evening. "He was just giving me a heads up on the kind of things we will be doing. He wants to me to have dinner with the team .... well, a few of the players from the team."

"I will be traveling there with my entire family where we are going to turn it into a little vacation and we will be looking at the NYC."

I've always been a very patriotic person and serving my country is something that I see as a possibility in the future.

- 3-star offensive lineman, Patrick Joseph

But for the star lineman, sightseeing of the Big Apple will have to take a backseat to the task at hand, which is to see where the package of Army football and West Point, along with all that it offers match up to Arizona and ASU. "I really want to get a feel for the campus, see how they are structured ... I know it's a very discipline environment, I want to get a feel for that to see what my day-to-day life would if I did go there," declares Joseph.

Joseph surely knows that Army football and the culture of West Point carries the unique banner that not too many school can offer, but he will be the first to say that such a culture fits well with his temperament. "I've always been a very patriotic person and serving my country is something that I see as a possibility in the future," shares a very humble. but confident Joseph. "When I sent my film to Army (West Point), I didn't expect a response because it's such a prestigious place. I didn't think they would give me a second look, but they did and when that happened I just thought it would be a great challenge to go to that college. And I'm not one to back down from a challenge and that's what's really appealing to me is the challenge and I'm for it if I decide to go there.

"West Point to us is an excellent school and we're just excited that Army gave him an offer," says Joseph's dad, also named Patrick, where the Hamilton High School prospect's middle name of Matthew is the primary distinction between the two Patricks.

Decision Time

Joseph has already visited Arizona and Arizona State, so his upcoming visit to West Point, should supple the 6-foot-3, 276 pounder with enough intel to make his college decision, which according to both Joseph and his dad, will be sooner than later. "No, there's no specific time, but as soon as I know, I am going to announce it." he said, although his father was a little more definitive.

"He is in the process of trying to make up his mind prior to the season starting where he really wants to go," said the Joseph matriarch. "But since Army doesn't do their official visits until December - January we're going take him so he can touch it and feel it."

To date, Joseph has not visited Air Force and there is still a question mark as to them receiving an unofficial visit from the 3-star prospect. "I like Air Force, it's a great academy, but they aren't on my list of unofficial visits I will be taking. Perhaps in the future I will take a visit.
