Leader for Hartsfield?

As we have seen over the past few weeks and days, Larry Coker and the UTSA staff has pursued some targets at big name schools. This trend continued Wednesday when Class 5A Division I state champion Allen High School got a call from Coker to extend an offer to starting cornerback "Cameron Hartsfield".

"If I had to name a leader it would be UTSA because it is the first Division I school to offer me," Hartsfield said. "I have an offer from UTSA and have talked to schools like Nevada, Baylor and San Diego State."

As of right now, Hartsfield does not have a visit set up to UTSA, but he hopes that happens before National Signing Day.

"I need to sit down and talk to my parents and get with the coaches on a good date because I want to come to San Antonio and see the campus and facilities and get to know the players and coaches better before I pull the trigger.

"Being up in Allen, I don't know a ton about UTSA. I know it is young football program that is still growing up and getting better. It would be pretty cool to be a part of the first conference championship there."

Hartsfield says he stands at 5-foot-10, 185 pounds and runs a sub 4.5 40-yard dash.

"I think I am very fast and can run with anyone on the field, so that is one of my strengths," Hartsfield said. "I like to play physical and I am instinctive on the field with good ball skills. And I know how to be a part of a winning program because at Allen we play big time football. We grind over here."

Hartsfield says he can always improve his footwork and is looking forward to maturing as a player and person at the college level.

We'll stay in touch on a possible visit.
