2009 DE excels on the field

Junior defensive end Tim Willman had a successful 2007 campaign for Fulton (Md.) Reservoir. Plenty of schools are sending him mail, and if he duplicates his performance next season he should have an impressive offer list to choose from.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound junior played defensive end and linebacker for Reservoir this fall. He runs the 40-yard dash in 5.0 seconds, but has been told his game speed is that of someone who runs a 4.7 or 4.8.

"I'm very physical and I have good instincts," Willman said. "I'm tough to move from the end. I hold my ground and do my assignment very well. I pursue really well. One of the areas I plan to work on is my pass rush."

Willman has received mail from Boston College, Virginia, Maryland, Georgia Tech, Syracuse, UConn, South Carolina, Miami, Stanford, Duke, Buffalo and Dartmouth.

Who's standing out?

"I really like Maryland, Georgia Tech and Syracuse," he said.

"I like Maryland because it's close to home. I've been on the campus and there's a great vibe at the football games. They have a great fan base.

"Georgia Tech also has a great program and it's down south where it's a little warmer. Syracuse has a lot of tradition. They've got the Carrier Dome and a great fan base."

This past fall Willman recorded 100 tackles, 68 of which were solo, with 21 tackles for loss, four sacks, three interceptions, three forced fumbles and six quarterback hurries.

He believes he will be recruited primarily as a defensive end at the collegiate level. Willman also participated in the U.S. Army All-American Combine in San Antonio earlier this year.
