Marc gives Ohio State high marks

In the class of 2008 the Buckeyes had the Brew Crew as Michael Brewster led a group of talented Floridians (Etienne Sabino, Travis Howard and Orhian Johnson) up to the state of Ohio to sign with the Bucks and now in the class of 2009 it appears that Jim Tressel will dip back down into the Sunshine state for some top talent.

One player that would love to be part of that recruiting haul is Hallandale Beach (Fla.) athlete Victor Marc. The 5-foot-11, 208-pounder played his first three seasons at Miami (Fla.) Dr. Krop high school where he befriended Sabino and Howard and now would love to join them with the Buckeyes. There was little doubt how the Floridian felt about his trip to Columbus.

"I loved it," Marc said. "It was an A-plus (visit) all around."

Marc admitted that it was hard to point out just one thing that stood out the most about his trip to Columbus and was really just blown away by all aspects of his trip.

"Everything from the fans to the coaches to the players to the environment," Marc said. "Just the way I was treated, it was really, really good."

With most of the class of 2008 on hand and more than a couple dozen 2009 recruits in attendance it was a chance for players and potential players alike to talk about football, life and the future.

"I met a lot of commitments from the 2008 class and a lot of commitments from the 2009 class," Marc said. "I met Terrelle Pryor and that was really cool. I had a chance to sit and chill with him for a little bit and that was really cool."

Marc is reporting offers from Clemson, South Carolina and UNC at this point but believes that Ohio State is not too far away from offering him a scholarship as well.

"I think I am really (close) to an offer but I think they are just trying to find out where I am actually play over there," Marc said. "Right now I am just trying to talk to them and see if I can open up my options (about a position that I can fit in for them at)."

Marc plays quarterback in high school but knows that he will project at a different position in college. Where would he feel most comfortable playing at for Ohio State?

"Probably running back, receiver, safety or corner," Marc said. "I kind of fit into those four positions, I can catch, run or throw… do whatever you want me to do."

Another highlight was getting a chance to talk with head coach Jim Tressel and the rest of the coaching staff. Marc said he would feel comfortable making a pledge to learn under the Ohio State coaches if things work out.

"(Tressel) is a real humble guy and he really just loves to hear what his players have to say and just take what they have to say into consideration," Marc said. "What stands out the most is the coaching staff, they really care about you and they are there for you for more than just football."

Marc was excited to see former teammate Sabino in action after the Dr. Krop star enrolled at Ohio State early. The freshman linebacker showed some flashes in the spring game but it was also a good chance to catch up and get some advice from his good friend.

"Etienne and I go way back from high school so it was really good to see how he was doing at a college level and he is really adjusting to it," Marc said. "(He has said) it is totally so different from my high school career so just get ready for college (ball). It was good."

With several other Floridians looking at the Buckeyes Marc would love to start another pipeline of players and give Brewster's class a run for notoriety. Marc admitted that he joked with the freshman offensive lineman about wanting to do that.

"(Michael) Brewster is a really good guy too (laugh)," Marc joked.

The crowd at Ohio Stadium also made its mark on Marc and the rest of the Florida commits and showed the passion for football that the fans of the Buckeyes posses.

"The crowd wanted me to sign autographs for them," Marc said. "(Columbus) is a real football city and they love Buckeye football."

So where does Ohio State rank after this visit?

"They rank No. 1 really," Marc said. "I told coach Tressel that I am really interested. They have a really high (rated) class and I want to be part of that so I should be hearing from them really soon."
