WR Lemon makes the call
Wide receiver Alec Lemon of Gambrils (Md.) Arundel made his decision last night, passing on an offer from Delaware in favor of Syracuse.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound prospect believes Syracuse is the best fit for him and he does not plan on changing his mind.
"Yeah, I committed to Syracuse last night actually," Lemon confirmed. "I called my recruiting coach and talked to the head coach. They were excited. They were excited for me to call and tell them I wanted to be an Orangeman.
"It came down to Syracuse and Delaware. I just feel like it's a place I can see myself at for the next four or five years. They have good academics, a good program and I like all the coaches.
"I talked to the head coach and he said I could start my career off early."
Lemon and the Syracuse coaches believe he has the tools to contribute right away.
"They feel like I'm the complete wide receiver," he explained. "I can play either position, split or in the slot.
"I just want to make an impact on the field. I just want them to get me on the field and see what I can do."
Don't expect Lemon to back off his decision even if other schools come calling.
"I'm solid with Syracuse. I'm going up to see the Penn State game, but that's not my official visit. My official visit is the week of the football banquet when they have all their recruits up there."
