Chambers says Iowa visit was amazing

Prep school defensive end Keensen Chambers made his first official visit this weekend with a trip to the University of Iowa. The 6-foot-6, 225-pound Chambers, who attends Worcester Academy in Massachusetts, was not quite sure what to expect on his first trip to the Midwest, but enjoyed his time in the Hawkeye State.

Chambers is a relative newcomer to the game of football as his first season on the field was just last year as a high school senior. After he did not receive the kind of college interest he was looking for, the South Carolina native headed to prep school to get some more exposure. That has come to fruition this fall, as Chambers has received a handful of scholarship offers, including one from Iowa who likes his potential at defensive end.

Chambers' host on the official visit was freshman J.D. Griggs, who is a tight end from New Jersey. Along with getting to know the players and coaches, he also had a chance to watch Iowa play in Kinnick Stadium on Saturday in their 22-17 victory over Purdue.

Along with Iowa, Chambers holds scholarship offers from Connecticut, Tulane, and Temple plus interest from Boston College, among others. Currently, he has official visits scheduled to Tulane on December 5 and Connecticut on December 12, which he plans to take before deciding.

Chambers is also waiting to see if other schools come forward with scholarship offers and potential visits. As a prep school kid who had a 3.8 grade point average in high school, he should be eligible to enroll in college at semester in January, so his decision will likely come by the end of next month.
