BREAKING: 2024 OL Nino Francavilla Commits to Miami

Miami went high profile in 2023, and now they are targeting high potential, physical profile fits in 2024.

Canada native and Cheshire Academy (CT) offensive lineman Nino Francavilla committed to Miami on Monday evening, finishing off what has been a successful recruiting summer for the Canes.

Francavilla is relatively unknown to most, but Miami got an opportunity to unearth a trench gem early in June when the offensive lineman decided while vacationing in Miami that he would check out Coral Gables and test himself at one of Miami's linemen camps.

He had a standout showing, winning rep after rep, and spending time with offensive line coach Alex Mirabal during individual drills on June 8th. The underrated interior offensive lineman also measured out at 6'3" and 295 pounds, checking that box with the staff.

"After camp, coach [Mario] Cristobal and coach Mirabal took me into their office and just told me they were really interested. All their coaches seem really knowledgeable about all their positions. Guys like Francis [Mauigoa] and Samson [Okunlola] were giving pointers and were cool to be around. The facilities were great, and the weather was just gorgeous. I loved it."

Committed to Harvard for just six days, Francavilla was on the radar of very few schools - including Miami. He camped at North Carolina State, Rutgers, and FAU, but held an offer sheet mainly consisting of Ivy League programs.

"Obviously the football program speaks for itself with the high-level players they have been able to bring in with Coach Cristobal and Coach Mirabal. Who wouldn't want to be coached by a coach like Coach Mirabal with a resume that he has?"

Miami has stood on their in-person evaluations this cycle and is taking prospects that want to be Miami Hurricanes. Positional versatility is also a trait that nearly every commit in the class has. Francavilla is just that, playing defensive line in high school but likely transitioning to center at the next level.

"Just being in Miami with that culture is the best of both worlds for me right now," said Francavilla of his experience in Miami. "Combine with the beauty of the area and the weight of a degree from Miami, I just felt like it was the best fit."

Miami now has three offensive line commits in the class (three-star offensive tackle Deryc Plazz and three-star offensive guard Juan Minaya) and 19 overall.
