Cane commit awaiting word on when he can return to Florida

IMG Academy QB and Hurricane commitment Artur Sitkowski went back home to New Jersey with Hurricane Irma approaching.

“They made everyone go home (to other states),” Sitkowski said.

Sitkowski says he’s anxiously awaited word on just how damaging Irma was, hoping for the best and looking to return at some point in the near future.

“I have no idea when I can go back,” Sitkowski said Sunday night. “All I know is they’ve canceled two of our games. So I’m not sure.

“I know they’ve gotten a lot of the storm because they’re on the west coast of Florida.”

He’s reached out to other commitments as well as Cane coaches to make sure everyone is staying safe - he’s most recently been talking with Jon and Mark Richt, who went to Orlando to try and weather the storm.

“They said they were doing good,” Sitkowski said.

He adds, “This is my first time living in Florida, it’s `Wow, these things can happen.’”

He says the outpouring of support for all those in Florida “really means a lot to those guys.”
