Emory Williams has strong showing at UM camp, still evaluating options

Milton (Fla.) High School QB Emory Williams' has been trending toward Miami for several weeks. His appearance at Saturday’s Mario Cristobal camp was a sign that things continue to move along.

Williams didn’t commit just yet but it was clear after a morning workout that Miami coaches checked all their boxes on the talented pocket passer from the Florida panhandle.

Miami continues to recruit 5 star prospect Dante Moore and 4 star Jaden Rashada and recruits are being told that two quarterbacks could be taken in this class to solidify the position into the future. Tyler Van Dyke is expected to enter the NFL Draft after this season. Jake Garcia and Jacurri Brown are already on the roster along with Peyton Matocha but there will be a need for two more quarterbacks.

So where do things stand with Williams now?

Well, Emory and his parents were on campus from 7:30 a.m. till 3 p.m.

“We had the whole crew (of UM coaches) out there today,” Emory told CaneSport on Saturday evening. “I thought I spun it pretty well. Overall I thought I threw really well. Coach Ponce coached me, it was great.”

Williams says the message he got from UM coaches today after the workout is that he 100 percent has a committable offer.

So where do things stand now?

“A bunch of new schools have reached out, Miami is on that top list but I’m evaluating everything,” Williams said.

Williams says he may be doing some more camps and is figuring out where to visit.

His timeline to announce?

“Hopefully by the end of June I’ll hopefully have this wrapped up,” he said.

In other words, stay tuned.

CANESPORT’S TAKE

Williams didn’t commit just yet on Saturday but it is clear that Miami likes him and that the feeling is mutual. Williams has a good support structure around him and isn’t getting overly caught up in the recruiting process. He will likely do some more campus, do his due diligence, and announce a decision in the next 2-3 weeks. Picking the right school first is the top priority and his parents have signed off on Miami as a potential choice for his son. We have this one on commit watch.
