Former Cane commit to visit this weekend

Deerfield Beach (Fla.) High School DB James Pierre committed to Miami back in May.

Then he decommitted to UNC.

Now?

He could be doing another switcheroo.

Pierre told CaneSport it's "50/50" between the two schools and he's taking an official visit to UM this weekend.

"Coach Mark Richt talked to my coach two days ago, said he wants me," Pierre said. "I've been talking to my coach and my parents about it. I'm going to meet the new coaches this weekend, will go from there."

Pierre hasn't spoken with any of the new Cane coaches yet - the visit was set up through his high school coach.

He says he won't be taking any other visits; it's a UM-UNC battle.

Will Pierre announce a final decision soon after the trip?

"I'm going to chill, don't know yet when I'll decide something," he said.

What does UM need to do this weekend to win him over?

"I don't know yet," Pierre said. "It's difficult right now, I'm trying to figure it out."

* Pierre's teammate, UF commitment Aaron Robinson may also visit this weekend, but Pierre wasn't sure Robinson will go through with it.

CaneSport's take

We see Pierre coming on board, and if UM gets Robinson to visit that would be a great sign for the Canes landing him as well. Put your seatbelt on, it's going to be a crazy ride these last few weeks of recruiting.
