Miami Appears Leading Contender For PG Recruit

Miami coaches have told Oakland (Calif.) Tech point guard Armondo Surratt that they are holding their final scholarship open for him.
It now appears he may fill that final scholarship.

While Surratt says he won't announce a decision until the latter part of this week, his coach spoke with the point guard this afternoon and says, "He says he likes miami now. I think that’s what he wants to do is sign with them."
But the coach, Hodari McGavock, added that "He's like the weather -- he changes his mind every five minutes. Last week it was Georgetown, then it was Arkansas. He’s never been out of California so everywhere is like paradise.
"I think he just wants to get it over with. He was enjoying it at first but now it’s wearing him down."
Surratt says he knows where he's going to college next season. But he says he's not making his decision public until later in the week because he wants to confer with his uncle and make sure he's making the right decision.
All Surratt would say is that his pick is one of two schools -- Miami or Georgetown.
"My decision's coming by the end of the week," Surratt said. "I'm just going to have a couple of conversations first."
Surratt visited Miami this past weekend and said "The players, coaches, teachers -- I liked everything."
He said he had dinner with coach Perry Clark and talked about the team. His host was Darius Rice, and Surratt says the pair spent much of their time playing video games.
"We also drove down to (South) Beach one night," Surratt said. "It was cool. All the players seemed nice. I felt comfortable."
Surratt visited Georgetown a week ago.
As for Georgetown, Surratt says, "I like it there -- it was alright. I pretty much liked the area, but it gets cold there."
Asked if not liking the cold was a hint he might have chosen Miami, Surratt said, "I'm not giving any hints yet."
