Quick takes: Recruit reactions to Junior Day

CaneSport caught up with numerous recruits at Junior Day on Saturday for their take on the day. Their thoughts:

* S Grant Delpit visited from Texas and shared that it was a "great experience, I liked it a lot. The highlight was probably sitting down with coach (Ephraim) Banda and coach (Mark) Richt and talking some football."

Asked if the visit moved UM up with him, Delpit responded, "Yeah. I always liked Miami at the top of my list."

Delpit also clarified that he really has no clear No. 1 right now.

"I don't have a top five yet, but they're definitely up there," he said.

* Ryan Johnson took a 10-hour drive down from Alabama with RB Nicholas Sims. Johnson landed an offer while on campus and says he has no favorites but that UM will "definitely" make his cut.

"It was great," Johnson said. "It was my first time down in Miami, it went well."

* WR Kevaughn Dingle was already leaning toward Miami before his visit to campus today for Junior Day.

Now the Canes have almost a stranglehold on his recruitment.

"I almost committed," Dingle told CaneSport. "They're trying to get me to commit but I'm still thinking bayou it. Today did get me thinking more deeply about it. I'm still open but I might commit soon."

* DT Rashad Colson said "I really like Miami and today I experienced a lot of things."

He's waiting on a Cane offer and will likely commit if he gets it.

* Commitment Jon Ford weighed in that it was "a great coaching staff and beautiful campus."

He says he's a solid commitment as of now.

* WR Kevaughn Dingle: "It's great. I'm loving it, it feels like home. I had my talk with coach (Ron) Dugans. Love it."

* DB Amari Carter: "I loved it. I really liked how they showed high interest in the overall person and not just the athlete's part."

UM is in his top 5 with North Carolina, Wisconsin, West Virginia and Pittsburgh

* LB/DE De'Andre Wilder was talking recently about leaving town for college. But he felt very home at Junior Day and told CaneSport afterward that UM is now his top choice.

"Junior Day, it went great," Wilder said. "This moved Miami up a notch. Now it's, in order, Miami, then Alabama, then LSU, then Notre Dame and Auburn."

* RB Nicholas Sims drove down from Alabama for junior day. He's waiting on his first offer but has serious interest from a dozen colleges including UM.

He has the Canes in his top 3.

"It was a great day," he said. "And I liked sitting down with coach Richt because he's such a nice person overall and a down to earth person. I loved the visit and - oh yeah - I can't forget the beautiful campus."

* Oklahoma City (Okla.) John Marshall High School CB Justin Broiles visited UF two days ago and was on Miami's campus today.

So how did his time at UM's Junior Day go?

Well, it's going to be kind of hard to get it from the horse's mouth.

"I'm not doing any interviews right now," he said.

Broiles was waiting on a UM offer but has numerous other offers.

* WR Quantino Allen was unable to make it to junior day. He previously said he'll commit if he gets a Cane offer.

* OL Tedarrell Slaton had planned to visit UM for Junior Day. But he recently changed plans and headed to Michigan instead.

Slaton says he's unsure whether the Canes will make his top 5.

* DB Shawn Davis indicated he might commit at Junior Day but he was unable to attend due to a 7-on-7 team obligation.
