Southall gets Richt in-home visit

Marcel Southall, a 6-foot-3, 270-pound standout defensive tackle, got an in-home visit from UM line coach Craig Kuligowski and head coach Mark Richt late Sunday.

The two coaches had just wrapped up the first big official weekend on campus when they hopped on a plane to meet with the high priority lineman and his family. Southall was just coming off a Texas visit as well.

CaneSport will have more on the visit today, but certainly the early indication is everything went as well as coach's wanted - Southall tweeted out "Had a great home visit tonight" with a picture of himself with the Cane coaches.

Southall told CaneSport last week that he has no frontrunners. He's already visited Oklahoma and Texas and will also visit Miami this weekend and then Mississippi.

Asked what kind of chance UM has, Southall said, "They have a chance. I like the history of Miami. I like that they have a good head coach, he knows how to win, came from Georgia, and they have a bunch of young guys still, have a lot of talent."

Southall said he's waiting to announce a decision on signing day.

What does UM need to show him on the visit to campus?

"I just want to see the campus environment, the classrooms, the academics because I already know football is going to come," Southall said. "I want to see the campus looks like."
