Top 2024 RB Stacy Gage Transfers to Local Power St. Thomas Aquinas

South Florida high school football has its own Transfer Portal of sorts and the latest example is four-star 2024 running back Stacy Gage making the move from Tampa Wharton to Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas.

Gage is the fourth-best back in the country and a top-50 prospect overall. After transferring from IMG Academy (FL) to Wharton, he had over 800 yards and 16 touchdowns on just 139 carries this season.

He has been a recruiting commodity since entering high school, earning over 40 offers, and has been heavily recruited by some of the best programs in the country.

Alabama, Florida, Miami, Ohio State, USC, Oklahoma, Penn State, and Colorado all made his recent top eight that he dropped on New Year's Day.

Oklahoma and Ohio State have long been the favorites for Gage, but ties to schools like Florida with teammate Dijon Johnson signing in this class and now Miami with the proximity to his new home, things could be fluid over the next 11 months.

Head coach Mario Cristobal and running back coach Kevin Smith proved over the last two cycles that recruiting elite backs is the expectation.

Late in 2022, they were able to grab four-star TreVonte' Citizen, who like Gage, was the fourth best back in the class. In 2023, two blue-chip ball carriers signed in American Heritage Plantation (FL) record breaker Mark Fletcher Jr. and Dillard (FL) speedster Christopher Johnson Jr. Both players were being recruited by programs like Clemson, Florida, and Ohio State.

Miami has yet to pick up a non-kicker commitment in the 2024 class. Kicking the class off with an elite running back would provide a strong starting point to build on.

Gage is not the only running back Miami is targeting in 2024. Other prospects to watch are his former teammate, Jerrick Gibson (IMG Academy), Anthony Carrie (Carrollwood Day), Kevin Riley (Tuscaloosa County), J'Marion Burnette (Andalusia), and Davion Gause (Chaminade-Madonna)
