Four-star Gulliver Prep (Miami, FL) receiver Jalen Brown is down to five schools and will announce his commitment on Friday.

Brown announced on social media Wednesday afternoon that his finalists are Miami, Michigan, LSU, Texas A&M and Florida State.

The 6-foot-2 speedster totaled 1033 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns last season in one of Florida’s toughest classifications.

Brown, the No. 6 ranked receiver in the 2023 class, officially visited Michigan and LSU this summer.

“LSU, the tradition of the facilities, the coaching staff is really big on graduating players and winning championships at the same time,” Brown said Wednesday morning. “That’s big for me and my family, because education comes first and then also being able to win national championships.”

Brown's mother lives in Mississippi, so a commitment to the Tigers gives him an opportunity to be in close proximity to her.

Brown was at Miami for one of Mario Cristobal’s individual summer camps, where he worked out and received pointers from offensive coordinator Josh Gattis.

“Coach Gattis is my guy,” Brown said. “We’ve been talking for some years, since he was at Michigan. Coach Gattis always gives me tips on my game so I can elevate it. During this spring game, I put in some of the tips he gave me and I was able to score two times with two catches. I’m getting better and more efficient at scoring, catching the ball, and making people miss.”

Brown added that Miami’s coaching staff checks in on him every day and has been consistent. He unofficially visited UM on June 22, the same time four-star quarterback commit Jaden Rashada was in Coral Gables for his official visit.

Brown has a great relationship with Rashada, his seven-on-seven quarterback at the Miami Immortals, and likes how the Hurricanes are doing in recruiting.

“It’s a lot of buzz around Miami,” Brown said. “They’ve been doing a really good job recruiting some of the top players around the country at various positions.”

Brown would become Miami’s third receiver commit of the 2023 class, joining South Florida prospects Nathaniel Joseph and Robby Washington.

“In the next couple of years, Miami is going to be back if they keep rolling how they’re doing with the commits,” Brown said. “Also how they’re boosting the facilities, the strength of their players, mental health and everything.”
