Multiple reports suggest that Miami is expected to hire Duke associate head coach Jai Lucas, who has agreed to become the next head coach.

Lucas, 36, who has been an assistant at Duke since 2022, has never been a head coach. He served as an assistant at Kentucky for two seasons (2020-22) and at Texas (2016-20). The former point guard played at Florida and Texas.

He is the son of John Lucas II, a former NBA head coach who played 14 seasons in the league. His older brother, John Lucas III, also played in the NBA.

Miami (6-21, 2-14 ACC) hosts No. 3 Duke (23-3, 15-1 ACC) on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN.
