EUGENE, Ore. — The University of Miami track and field team completed day one of the NCAA Division I Outdoor National Championships Wednesday evening at Hayward Field.
Hurricane javelin thrower Devoux Deysel captured his first division one First Team All-American honors of his career. Deysel earned bronze in Wednesday’s javelin completion, throwing 75.14m (246 feet, 6 inches), which was good for third place.
After day one, Edgar Campre was in fourth place in the men’s decathlon competition, with 4249 points.
Campre started his day strong, earning a personal best in the 100m with 10.56, good for second. He then went on to capture three more personal bests in the long jump (7.24m), shot put (15.34m) and 400m (48.16).
Multi-event athlete Campre closed out a grueling two-day competition to claim First Team All-American honors in the men’s decathlon. Campre tallied a school record 8042 total points, earning personal bests in six of the ten events.
With Campre contributing six team points, the men’s team ranked fourth after two days of competition with twelve team points.
In the women’s javelin, Deisiane Teixeira also earned First Team All-American. Teixeira threw 54.54m (178 feet, 11 inches) to finish eighth. Like Campre, this is Teixeira’s first First Team All-American honors of her career.
The Miami men’s team finished tenth overall with 22 points at this year’s national championships -- highest finish and point total in program history.
Miami jumper Russell Robinson gave an incredible performance in the men’s triple jump — ending with a school record and personal best 17.13m (56 feet, 2.5 inches) to claim the silver medal, adding eight points the men’s team.
Robinson left it all out on the field, jumping over 17 meters twice in the six attempts given.
Hurricanes thrower Milton Ingraham II also achieved First Team All-American honors in his signature event, the men’s discus. Ingraham II threw a mark of 59.74m (196 feet) for a seventh-place finish and two points to the men’s team.

The University of Miami track and field team completed the 2024 track and field season Saturday afternoon at Hayward Field.
Miami jumper Christina Warren takes home Second Team All-American honors for her performance in the women’s triple jump. Warren jumped a mark of 12.96m (42 feet, 6.25 inches). This is her first All-American honors of her career.
After four days of competition, five Hurricanes have been named First Team All-Americans and two Second Team All-Americans.

In her 34 years as head coach, Amy Deem has now surpassed 200 All-Americans coached, bringing her total to 204 athletes. Before she was named head coach in 1990, the Hurricanes had never had an athlete record an NCAA qualifying mark.
