University Of Miami Announces Signees
University of Miami head football coach Larry Coker has announced the Hurricanes' 2002 signees as twenty-two student-athletes signed letters of intent to play football for the defending national champion Hurricanes on Wednesday.
"We had an excellent recruiting season coming off our national championship year and I'm very pleased that we signed a quality group of young men who meet the personnel needs we have," said Coker. "While the athletic ability of these recruits was outstanding, I also was impressed with the way these young men have approached their academics. I'm looking forward to seeing them when they enroll this fall."
The Hurricanes thrived on a rich recruiting crop in South Florida, signing 16 players from the state of Florida including 10 from the greater Miami area. But Miami maintained its status as a national recruiter as the class was geographically diverse with signees from six different states. Two players from Texas, and a player each from California, Louisiana, Ohio and Oklahoma signed on to the Hurricanes football squad. The group includes two Parade All-Americans and 10 SuperPrep All-Americans.
