CB DJ Ivey says he sees a renewed emphasis on speed under new strength coach David Feeley.

“It’s very different,” Ivey said. “He teaches us different things, there’s a variety of things different from last off-season. It’s more speed, agility, making sure we’re in shape, have the right technique and form.”

The craziest workout Feeley has done so far?

“There’s been many,” Ivey said. “We get a lot of track workouts, workouts inside the weight room that have to do with push-press that are very intense. He has a lot of things to get us better.”

* Ivey’s take on newly arrived CB Christian Williams?

“He can help us out,” Ivey said. “During 7 on 7 I see out of his break he’s very quick. He has a sense for the ball.”

DJ Ivey, on Paradise Camp

* Asked the toughest receiver to cover in 7 on 7, Ivey responded, “Everyone’s tough, we have good talent everywhere. There’s no one that has an upper hand on anyone.”

* Of the upcoming Paradise Camp, Ivey said, “I’m very excited. I was a part of it (as a recruit) and know what type of talent was there when I was there. I’m excited to see what’s going to be out there and what’s going to happen.”

His best memory of Paradise when he was a recruit?

“The pool,” Ivey said. “And the good food.”

Ivey said when he went to Paradise as a recruit he spent a lot of time with Ed Reed.

“He just told me it was the U, that if you do your thing you have a chance (to star in the NFL),” Ivey said.
