Roy Firestone, a seven-time Emmy Award-winning broadcaster who also won seven cable ACE Awards as a host, interviewer, narrator, writer, and producer, will collaborate with CaneSport.com in the creation of a new video series, UM G.O.A.T.S., which will tell the stories of some of the greatest names in Miami Hurricanes history.

Firestone, the original host of ESPN’s legendary Up Close, Up Close Classic and Up Close Primetime shows, has interviewed more than 6,000 athletes, musicians, actors and political figures, as well as scores of writers and filmmakers in his 47-year career in sports television and entertainment.

The first season of UM G.O.A.T.S will kick off July 1 with part one of a two-part interview with legendary coach Jimmy Johnson, who won the 1987 National Championship at Miami and went on to win two Super Bowl titles with the Dallas Cowboys.

"We are honored to be able to work with an iconic talent like Roy Firestone to produce next-level content for CaneSport.com," CaneSport Publisher Gary Ferman said. "Roy is universally regarded as one of the best at weaving an interview into a compelling story that takes the viewer on a journey into the life of the interview subject. These former Hurricanes have great stories to tell and Roy is the right talent to engage with them."

Firestone has recently hosted Public Television's "LA Tonight" which featured interviews of an eclectic list of legendary music, entertainment, and sports figures, including composer Burt Bacharach, record producer David Foster, songwriter Diane Warren, and tennis great Andre Agassi, among many others.

Sports Illustrated has called Firestone, "The best interviewer in the business."

The late Pulitzer Prize winning columnist Jim Murray once said, “Roy Firestone isn’t just the best sports interviewer I’ve ever seen, he's the best interviewer period. That includes, Diane Sawyer, Barbara Walters, Mike Wallace, Morley Safer, any and all of them.”

Not limited to television, Firestone is also prolific on the printed page — as the author of two best-selling books, Up Close with Roy Firestone, and most recently, Don’t Make Me Cry, Roy.

Firestone will also write periodic essays for CaneSport.com.

He graduated from the University of Miami after previously attending Miami Beach High. His first job was as the sports anchor at WPLG Channel 10 in Miami in 1975 and he spent 24 years with ESPN. Sunday night he was inducted into the California Sports Hall of Fame.
