CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference Football Players of the Week have been recognized for their standout performances in Week 8. A vote of a select media panel determines the selections.
Miami true freshman Rueben Bain was recognized as the Defensive Lineman and rookie of the week:
DEFENSIVE LINEMAN – Rueben Bain, Jr., Miami, DL, Miami, Fla.
Bain had a breakout performance for the Hurricanes Saturday night in a double overtime win over Clemson. Bain totaled a team-high eight tackles, including two solo sacks - one of which was a strip-sack. The freshman started and led Miami with two quarterback hurries, wreaking havoc in the Clemson backfield the entire game.

The freshman defensive lineman totaled a team-high eight tackles, including two solo sacks - one of which was a strip-sack in a breakout performance for the Hurricanes Saturday night in a double overtime win over Clemson. Bain, who got the start, led Miami with two quarterback hurries and was in the Clemson backfield the entire game.
Pro Football Focus also named Bain to its Week 8 College Football Team of the Week.
Bain has played in every game this season and has registered 19 total tackles (11 solo), five for loss, 4.5 sacks, and two for forced fumbles. Pro Football Focus also considers Bain the second-best defender in the ACC according to defensive grade.
The freshman is the fifth Hurricane to be honored this season; Anez Cooper (Co-Offensive Lineman), Jaden Davis (Defensive Back), Jacolby George (Wide Receiver), and Tyler Van Dyke (Quarterback) were each recognized after Miami’s win over Texas A&M in Week 2.
