Miami is looking to continue to land local elite receivers. Jacory Barney certainly fits that mold. Barney was teammates with Miami signee Robby Washington and often times outplayed him in production.

Barney spoke with Frank Tucker at the 7-on-7 Florida Fire Tryouts and he had this to say about receiving the offer from Miami:

"I couldn't even believe it. I was just in class doing my work. Coach called me. Coach Kevin Smith, the running backs coach, they called me, watched my film, letting me know. I know I've been waiting on it. I was telling my coaches I was waiting on that offer. They made that happen today, so I'm proud of that, but I'm still working though."

With now former teammates Robby and Bobby Washington at Miami, Barney will lean on the twins for advice regarding his decision. Barney grew up watching Miami like many players from South Florida.

"UM being a home school, I always watch them growing up so it's definitely going to be in the top."

Barney described his relationship with Miami:

"I talked to [Mario] Cristobal every time I go to UM. He watched me work out one day. They worked me out one day. It's about time they dropped the [offer]. I've been waiting on it."

What is certainly interesting is that running backs coach Kevin Smith was the one to make the call and was tagged in Barney's social media post.

Barney seems a bit undersized to be a running back on the college level and has excelled at several offensive skill positions in high school thus far. Barney wants to play wide receiver on the next level

"I feel like I'm explosive. I can make it happen."

Barney shared that early playing time would factor in his decision.

Michigan, Pitt, and Tennessee are in contact with Barney but no future visits are set as of yet. In his junior season, Barney had 32 receptions for 477 yards scoring four touchdowns.
