Miami signee Christopher Johnson Bringing World-Class Speed to "The U"

Speed kills, however, Miami has lacked a true speed demon as in previous decades. But that will seemingly change with the additions of freshmen Nathaniel Joseph and Christopher Johnson Jr.

The future Miami running back dominated at the 3A Region 4 Meet, clocking a 10.45 in the 100m and 20.66 in the 200m. He came into the meet as the defending state champion, and held his own once again.

In 2022, Johnson won the 3A state title in the 100-meter dash with the same time (10.45) as he ran last weekend. He ran a faster 200-meter dash this past weekend than he did when he won the state title last year (20.78).

Johnson's speed was on display all throughout his senior campaign on the football field. He rushed for 1,118 yards and 17 touchdowns as a senior.

The 5-foot-11, 178-pounder has received a pro comparison to former NFL All-Pro running back Chris Johnson.

Johnson's big-play ability stood out to Mario Cristobal during the recruiting process, and it could land him early playing time as a freshman.

"Borderline world-class speed and as explosive as it gets," Cristobal said on Early Signing Day last December. "He can touch the ball, find the crease, and he's gone He's also excellent out of the backfield. He's a track star who is gonna run track here at the University of Miami as well."
